"You need to fuckin’ realise a few things about life.. is that a kestrel? that's a kestrel over there.”
For our second release at Let’s Go Swimming we’ve signed Doppelate. Hailing from south London, he brings us a stripped back, four track house record which strikes a beautiful balance between gentle melancholia and blissed-out dance floor moments.
‘Soaked In Honey’ opens the EP with a sampled conversation between two friends (quoted above). Subterranean keys and a prominent bassline drive this poignant, and yet carefree, sunset club track. Up next ‘Bobo’s Garden’ downs the pace to give us a molten voyage away from the world and into spacey ambience.
On the flip side, ‘Ah’ opens with dissonance and harmony, orchestrating an interesting contrast between bassline and keys, which remains both intriguing and at the same time dancefloor ready. Rounding off the EP is ‘Forget About You’, Doppelate moves into a carefree summer evening atmosphere. Thick chords and a fidgety arpeggiator navigate us through the groove of this track, that suits both the build up or wind down in a club.
